Research field: visual literacy and non-linear learning – specifically: modalities of perception of visual arts in children and youths, transpositions between artistic, cultural and pedagogical domains, creative interactions between education and visual arts, reflective practice and educative research.

Marie Fulkova´s research focuses on exploring intersection between artistic, scientific and educational discourses and on examination of the way in which the cultural artefacts function as a polysemy across different social domains. She has published articles in international journals (IJADE, IJETA), and she has been invited to write for prestigious publishers (Routledge, Athena Verlag, Intellect Books). Dr. Fulková delivered key-note speeches at international conferences and lectured on the pedagogical content knowledge related to intertwining of modernistic and post-structural regimes of instruction in art and cultural education. She has supervised numerous PhD theses dealing with art-based research, pedagogical action research, and creative practice in visual arts with pedagogical implications. Currently she is involved in cultural and educational transfers between Czech and Japanese programs of visual art teacher preparation. She collaborates with different cultural institutions and partner universities (e.g. universities in EU, Japan, Australia, US, The Museum of Decorative Art in Prague, National Gallery), she also designs contemporary art experiences, educative programs and curriculum for galleries and museums.
