ERASMUS ART PROJECT SCHEME

Understanding of culture and visual art as creative, inter-subjective domains is in the center of philosophy of LLP Erasmus exchange program at the Department of Art Education where art specific Erasmus Art Project Scheme (EAPS) has been designed and developed. Respecting linguistic and cultural diversity, the Department of Art Education focuses on „languages of art” as media of expressive communication and learning. EAPS uses individual dialogical methods and partner links between student and her/his teacher. EAPS offers various Project Units according to individual artistic and academic specialization of each Project Unit leader (a teacher of Art Education Dept.). The Project Unit is in the center of the program of study and additional subjects are forming around as supportive tools leading to the best result of the Project.

What to expect

Art Project enables a flexible schedule within regular program of study. Its effect is based on cross-cultural and interdisciplinary approaches. It encourages teamwork and personal links between participants and the project leaders. Students are invited to use their leader´s professional expertise to gain the best result.

Participants are expected to work on a personal portfolio, collecting studio-work and theoretical reflections. They explore a new situation of their Exchange as an unknown „cultural space“ through collections of visual and audio recordings, they should be able to analyze and to articulate a set of research questions and issues, they should paraphrase and finally they are expected to produce a new, complex artefact. At the end of semester they present individual projects of their artistic activity and reflective approach.

International students are invited to participate in excursions (E. g. Art Museums and Galleries in Prague and in the country). In collaboration with top Prague museums, galleries, (such as National Gallery, Museum of Decorative arts, DOX/ Centre of Contemporary Art) and with distinguished artists as Project leaders, the Erasmus students are provided opportunities to study the Czech and middle European culture, art and through artistic work to reflect their own positioning, life and role within European cultural space.

How to proceed if you have decided to study at Art Education Dept.

1. Prior online contact and communication with 15 ECTS project leaders (understand teachers) is necessary.

Please send your personal portfolios of artworks and written project proposals on their e-mail address. A sketch of the project you want to develop in Prague is necessary, too.
